Got a question before you play?
Here are the answers to some of the things people ask us most.

About Cubetown

What is Cubetown?

Cubetown is an indoor active gaming experience where movement, play and challenge come together.

You’ll move between 6 immersive challenge arenas, each with games that test things like speed, memory, teamwork, timing, aim, coordination and quick thinking. Some games are fast and competitive, while others are more relaxed, cooperative or sensory-focused.

The whole point is that you can play your way and we’ll match your vibes.

Is Cubetown an escape room or an arcade?

Not quite, but we get why you’d think so.

Cubetown shares little pieces of some familiar experiences: the teamwork of an escape room, the freedom of an arcade and the active challenge of sport. However, you’re not locked in a room, you don’t need to be athletic and you definitely don’t just stand at a screen.

You’ll be able to move between 6 unique arenas and choose from 20+ immersive games, where your body is the controller.

Is Cubetown like a gym or fitness class?

No. However, while it’s not a workout class, it’s definitely active if you dial up the intensity (spoiler alert: most people do) – you will want to wear comfortable clothes and enclosed shoes.

Some groups like to run, compete and leave it all out there. Others move at their own pace, focus on teamwork or choose more relaxed games. Our goal is to make movement fun, not intimidating.

Do I need to be a gamer?

No. You don’t need to be a gamer to enjoy Cubetown.

When we say “your body is the controller”, we mean that the games are designed to be easy to understand, quick to learn and fun to repeat. Some experiences are designed to feel familiar to gamers and arcade enthusiasts, but the real fun comes from moving, reacting, laughing and playing together.

Do I need to be fit to play?

Not at all.

One of the things we love most about building Cubetown is that people can play at their own pace. Some groups go hard, while others focus on teamwork, problem-solving or simply having fun together.

Playing At Cubetown

How does a Cubetown session work?

When you arrive for your session, you’ll be asked to pick a team name – we’ve seen this become a life or death decision in some teams, so it may be worth coming up with one before you arrive. When you’ve finally decided, we’ll issue you with a team QR code for you to hold onto.

During your session, you’ll move between our 6 different challenge rooms. In each one, you’ll be able to choose from a range of games, modes and difficulty levels (each about 2-4 minutes) – you’re in the driver’s seat, so you can choose to try as many of our games and experiences as possible, or to play one of our harder challenges over and over until you beat it.

Once you’re finished, come check out our weekly leaderboard to see how your team did! That’s a great time to give yourselves a pat on the back and snap a group pic in front of your score (bragging rights included) before you leave.

Will I be able to play every arena?

Yes. During your session, you’ll always have enough time to explore all of our arenas and play several games in each one.

For larger groups, we may split players between different rooms to keep the experience moving. This helps everyone spend more time playing, because we know from experience – nobody really likes waiting for their turn.

How many games are there?

Cubetown has 20+ games across our challenge rooms for you to select, each with different modes, difficulty levels and ways to play.

When you consider all of our different rooms, teams, modes and difficulty levels, there are 50+ ways to play. We encourage you to pick whichever one interests you most at the time and to dial it up and down based on your mood.

Can we choose our own games?

Yes, that’s what it’s all about!

Each challenge room has a screen where your team can choose from the games and options available in that room. You can choose cooperative games, competitive games, difficulty levels and slower-paced sensory light experiences, depending on what your group enjoys and feels like at the time.

Can we play competitively?

Heck yes. Usually people start with the co-operative games to chase a team high score on the leaderboard.

However, at some point in the session, you might not feel the same love for your teammates as when you started – if so, there’s plenty of games that allow you to split up into however many teams you’d like and compete for bragging rights.

Although we hope you won’t need them, don’t worry – we’ve got tissues on site as well.

Can we play at a slower pace?

Absolutely. Cubetown is designed for groups to choose their own pace throughout the session, and not everyone wants to get sweaty on a Friday night.

We’ve got games that focus more on memory and teamwork, but if even those aren’t chill enough, we have photo modes and sensory light experiences that just let you play with the lights.

Before You Visit

What should I wear?

We highly recommend comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes as you will be moving around.

Cubetown is more active than many people expect. You will run, jump, throw, climb, dodge, reach, react and move between rooms during your session.

Should I bring water?

You’re welcome to bring water, and cold drinks are also available for purchase at the venue.

Some of our event options also include free water, soft drinks and juice boxes.

Can I bring a phone or camera?

Please do!

We’ve set up a lot of our arenas with Photo Modes and phone holders so that you can capture the memories created during your sessions. Our team are always on hand to help you take a quick pic as well.

Just please keep things safe and be respectful of photographing or videoing other guests.

When should we arrive?

While we always try our absolute best to make sure you get all of your game time, we recommend arriving early so your group has time to check in, store belongings, organise teams and get ready to play.

For standard sessions, arriving 15–20 minutes early is usually a good idea. For group events, we’ll confirm the recommended arrival time when your booking is organised.

Is there parking?

Parking depends on the location.

Perth has free on-site parking at the iFLY Perth building in Rivervale. Melbourne is located in Glen Waverley, where parking can be busy during lunch and dinner times, so we recommend arriving at least 20 minutes early.

Where are you located?

Cubetown currently has locations in Perth and Melbourne, with Adelaide coming soon.

Perth is located in the iFLY building in Rivervale. Melbourne is located at Kingsway Central in Glen Waverley.

Parties & Events

Do you provide food?

We don’t provide food because we’re experts in play, not catering. Every group likes different things, and we’d rather let you bring what you actually want than lock you into the usual party food.

You’re welcome to bring or order in your own cake, snacks, catering or party food if you select an option that gives you access to the party room. All we ask is that you bring your own utensils and leave the party room clean, packed down and ready for the next group at the end of your time.

Can we bring a birthday cake?

Absolutely, if you’ve booked an event with party room access.

You’re welcome to bring a birthday cake and store it in our fridge while you play. Please remember to bring anything you need to serve it, such as plates, napkins, cutlery, candles and a lighter if needed.

Can we bring alcohol?

No, outside alcohol is not permitted.

Cubetown is designed as an activity centred around movement, active gaming and rediscovering the joy of play — and that doesn’t always mix well with alcohol.

If drinks are part of the plan, we recommend getting the games started at Cubetown first, then moving on to a licensed venue afterwards to carry on the fun.

Can we bring decorations?

Yes, you can bring decorations if you’ve booked an event with party room access.

We usually recommend this for exclusive bookings, which give you more time and flexibility to decorate, celebrate and pack down. For simple party upgrades, decoration time is more limited, so we recommend keeping decorations light, quick and easy to remove.

Do you provide invitations?

Yes. We have a digital Cubetown invitation template that we can send to you after booking to customise.

You’re welcome to print it yourself, send it digitally or use it as a starting point for your own invites.

Can you run a tournament?

Yes, absolutely.

Your group can be split into smaller teams and asked to pick a team name. As part of your play time, you’ll compete for scores, points and bragging rights, then check how you did on our leaderboard afterwards.

This works especially well for birthdays, corporate events, sports teams, schools and larger group bookings.

Suitability and Accessibility

Is Cubetown suitable for kids?

Yes. Cubetown is recommended for ages 6 and over, and children aged 5 and under are welcome to join for free with a paying adult.

Many of our most competitive players are families who love working together or challenging each other across different games.

Is Cubetown suitable for adults?

Absolutely. Cubetown is designed for kids at heart (like ourselves) to rediscover the joys of play.

Adults, couples, friend groups, university students, corporate teams and families regularly play at Cubetown.

Do children need an adult with them?

That depends on their age.

Children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by a supervising paying adult at all times. Children aged 9–12 must have an accompanying adult at the venue.

Can adults and kids play together?

Yes! That is one of the best parts of Cubetown.

The games are designed so families and mixed-age groups can move, laugh, compete and work together. You don’t need everyone to be the same age, fitness level or skill level to have fun.

Is Cubetown accessible?

Everybody experiences play differently, and that’s okay.

Cubetown combines movement, lights, sounds and interactive technology to create an immersive experience. Some games are fast-paced and energetic, while others focus more on memory, coordination, problem-solving or slower-paced sensory light experiences.

If you have accessibility requirements, sensory considerations or questions before your visit, please contact our team and we’ll do our best to help.

Is Cubetown suitable for neurodivergent guests?

Cubetown can work well for many neurodivergent guests, but as we’re learning more every day, every person is different.

Some guests enjoy the movement, lights, structure and choice of games, while others may prefer quieter times, slower-paced games or more preparation before visiting.

We welcome neurodivergent guests from all walks of life, but if you’re feeling nervous or don’t know what to expect, please contact us before your session and ask us what’s on your mind.

Are there sensory-friendly games?

Yes. Some of our rooms include slower-paced photo modes and/or sensory light experiences that can be enjoyed at your own pace.

These are a good option for groups who want something calmer, more creative or less competitive.

Can we take breaks?

Yes. You can (and should) take breaks when needed.

Cubetown is active, so we encourage guests to listen to their bodies and play at a pace that suits them.
